Young Adult Ministries

Strategies for reaching and serving Young Adults will be critical to the future of congregations.

As the average age in mainline Protestant denominations passes 60 years old, the missing age cohort often is young adults and the children they bring to church. Today's young adults might have spent little or no time in churches when they were young children. They don't necessarily see a faith community as part of their lives.

Young adults aren't resistant to faith. In fact, studies show they hold rather traditional religious values. But they aren't necessarily drawn to the forms of worship and church life that older congregants take for granted. Serving them will be a challenge.
